Pros

Sage has a bold and ambitious strategy. Unfortunately people ('colleagues' in Sage language) need to execute the strategy and my view is that we will not see this fantastic business strategy realized. Certainly not under Stephen Kelly's current leadership practices.

Cons

Stephen Kelly's customer obsession is admirable but who serves the customer? His 'colleagues' do. Its common sense that engaged colleagues are far more likely to be better at serving customers. Unempathetic rounds of retrenchments, dis-empowerment, condescending language, poor C level hires, scape-goating, lack of investment in talent and ability to retain talent, and a culture of fear and imbalance typify Kelly's leadership style. This may be construed as merely the words of a disgruntled employee but, Mr Kelly, to put your mind and those of your shareholders at ease, why don't you conduct a employee Net Promoter Score on your leadership i.e. a simple NPS rated question as to whether your colleagues would recommend you as CEO to another similar global company's employees? If what I feel and what I hear on the ground is anything to go by, you would be horrified at what your colleagues think of your leadership.

Pros

Sage Foundation offers 5 days volunteering. Some very talented leaders in the business - sadly some of the best are leaving. Exciting opportunities for growth and development and at last has a clear product roadmap. Premises being improved - gym etc

Cons

Don't seem to really care what people think - latest survey was a sham, forced to give only good comments. Leaders don't listen and don't spend enough time with their teams. Bullies thrive here. Tendency to hire and fire - objectives never clear, lots of leaders who need training in the basics. CEO is superficial - just wants to look good and spread fake news. Doesn't have real conversations - just lots of smiles. And Only wants to here good news. Poor work life balance - lots of people off on sick increasing pressure for everyone. HR are very poor.

Thanks for your feedback. The Sage Foundation is amazing. Our people are great and there's lots of opportunities to excel at Sage - we don't like losing talent but it's always great to hear when ex-colleagues go on to do really well and thank Sage for help in getting there. Our CEO, Stephen Kelly, is honest and loves meeting colleagues across Sage and gaining their feedback. He's just had a couple of days with colleagues in Switzerland, France, Spain and Germany - he held fireside chats, all hands calls etc - in his words "I go to the front line offices typically more than once a week - to see what's happening and the impact our colleagues make at the sharp end". We announced the other day that a Board Associate has been nominated to bring the voice of colleagues into the Board's deliberations. The Board Associate will be expected to improve the channels of communication between colleagues, and other key stakeholders, and the board. Thanks again for your review.

Don't wish onto your worst enemy

Pros

The 5 days of non--profit engagement is really goo

Cons

The list is long. Terrible senior management, a CEO who's more like a movie star than a real CEO, a culture that doesn't care about the individual whatsoever. We're being set up for a "no bonus year" again; the pressure to deliver based on completely unrealistic timelines is crazy. Sr. Management keeps revolving and doesn't agree on the strategy; just keeps saying we'll do things better. Ratings were a joke - managers had to grade on a hard curve - and then bring down several team members one grade yet again. This place is a complete disaster and I cannot wish it even on my worst enemy - not to mention ever recommending Sage to a friend. I'm counting the days myself - might even just be done with it even if I don't have a new role somewhere else. It's just not worth the stress considering I'm working at 40% of market rate. Worst of all the products are not up to par and Sage continues to push the cloud products which are totally not competitive - even after having them in the market for a few years now.
