Pros

Really smart people who are passionate about solving clients' problems Select teams have a great vibe and are really fun to work with Ability to learn a lot about global financial services

Cons

Extremely political, resulting in too many poor managers Antiquated technology for most of firm. Some teams don't know who their top 10 clients are Except for Financial Advisors, your bonus compensation is 100% correlated to how well politically positioned your group head is, regardless of your performance output. When I had a good group head, I got paid extremely well, even in the bad Wall Street years. When I had a bad group head, my bonus wasn't even 10% of a good year even though my output was at the highest level Slow to move. Too indecisive about the type of firm they are and what on their platform truly benefits clients HR function is basically non existent Difficult to move around and get a well-rounded financial services experience - leads to few to no executives who are positioned to run such a large organization Way too much turnover, and not of the people who need to go

Pros

Make sure you get into the right team where the manager is respected and the team is welcoming and positive. UBS is known to have cultural issues across generations, gender and internal ranking system.

Cons

You are expected to work long hours "that's what you sign up for", take meeting calls at all hours and then be docked annual leave for medical appointments. If you are studying or have evening lectures, managers will make it difficullt for you. There have been wage freezes across UBS for several years, cheaper employees are brought across from support teams without pay increases. They churn through interns to save costs (higher bonuses for management).
