A great idea and company that's fallen on hard times

Pros

Some of the people there are the best in the industry; smart, engaged and going the extra mile for customers. There's still a "can do" attitude in the face of very difficult times for the company. The backing of Dell/EMC has helped accelerate customer wins in some cases. The pay can be fantastic, especially for long term employees, but it's also very variable, 2 people in the same role could have wildly disparate salaries especially when options are factored in. Some of the recent promotions have been well deserved and taking people who can make a difference to help lead the company forward. This was a 5 start company and can be again, but needs a lot of work and a cohesive vision that's not being well articulated (or perhaps doesn't exist).

Cons

Forward to where? This company has lacked a real vision for who they want to be and how they will get there for a long time. It's been years since there's been a significant new product released where competitors are releasing monthly. The "sell what's on the truck" mantra to sales is growing very tiresome; it's impossible to sell what doesn't (but should) exist. What was innovative is now table stakes and Virustream is having trouble keeping up with the very real competition that's releasing products on a regular cadence. A lot of the employees are waiting for the next WFR and those who have been cut, unfortunately, are often not the weakest but those with the clout to get their names on the list for a paid vacation or retirement package.

fit to fight ?

Pros

life balance, benefit, work at home, good teammates

Cons

where to start? This company was never a cloud from the start. It is running on fumes until MD decides enough is enough with funding this place. Goal right now is to get fit to fight which means save existing customers that bought into Rod and KR sales pitch years ago that are hanging by a thread because they are not receiving the service they contracted for. Product team has been fixing problems not building new products. Just take a look at the product releases over the last year. Zero. Rory has eliminated key executive management who enabled this to happen. Full turnover. Long time Dell execs and Dell sales and partners won’t touch it with a pole. They know this is a sinking ship.

Pros

Dynamic Startup / Early company feel within larger Dell ecosystem

Cons

Fit to Fight campaign is exhausting employees, keeping them on pins and needles, and eliminating key individuals and positions
