Head office culture of bullying
Pros
- A great discount in John Lewis and Waitrose - Good salaries available
Cons
The worst experience of my professional career and I would advise anyone to do their research and not be led by its past reputation of the John Lewis & Waitrose Partnership being a wonderful place to work. That was unfortunately my mistake. - A culture of bullying ran throughout the Bracknell head office, particularly from those in high levels. Some in lower positions are complict, watching targeted bulling and the exclusion of partners take place. Partners stay silent and unfortunately work in a culture of fear, keen to avoid becoming the next victim. - A truly toxic workplace in my experience, finishing on time and taking a full lunch break was frowned upon and often made to feel this was not normal practice. Lots of people unfortunately overworked, fraught and working late and through break times. - Career opportunities are only for those willing to play the game of 'the perfect partner' You must attend all social gatherings, be constantly striving to take part in every single activity thrown at you, and arrange or attend all social events, if not then someone else will and they will be recognised for this and be favoured over these attributes rather than skill and ability in their role. On top of your role, this is exhausting and difficult to watch other partners feel forced to partake in this. This is something that really needs to addressed.
