Pros

balance sheet. and many locations. Through name recognitiion and convience of so many locations. WAG has grown into a conglomerate with the ability to be force to be reckoned with. If a PBMs' reimbursment rate is to low, wag simply stops participating with them and waits for their clients to complain wag is not a participating pharmacy. Their technical expertise has always been on the leading edge. from satelites to electric staplers. They cannot be beat for trying.

Cons

corporate greed. glorified dollar store. Due to the ability of all their IT work they are now able to change the way retail does business. instead of making their robotics and workflow relieve the pharmaicist for other duties which might empower the role of the profession in the community. they use it to reduce the number of pharmacists to save money. NICE!

Pros

Great pay. Fast pace environment. Always learning new things. People and employees always seemed to have smiles on there face and were very enthusiastic. The training seemed to be fun and creative. Working with Walgreens employees was a highlight. Even if you were at the bottom of the totem pole the person at the top was right there with you to show you how it was done. The seasons of the year were always changing so was your work environment. You could see Christmas coming even though it was six months away. The training also seemed to be tops of all companies I worked for.

Cons

People never really gave praise for a job well done. The company also seemed to cut people out and under staff management at times. I did not like the corporate polices either. Specially the shrink policy, if food was going to go bad (expiration date) in the freezer department they would just throw it away. I mean they could have at least given it to the homeless shelter down the street because it still had a week to go until it spoiled. But even then it was frozen food… Does that even go bad?

Pros

Walgreens provided fair compensation, great benefits, and made the transition from store level to corporate very smooth for me. I had to leave the merchandiser position for personal reasons, but would have loved to stay in the position were it more conducive to me getting things in my personal life accomplished.

Cons

Merchandisers lead a very lonely life and have the added expense of some sanity and personal freedom. The hours are great, the job can be exciting and challenging, but I know that for me, two years was all I could muster. I need to have some sort of personal support network, and the lack of it was detrimental to me. The position is very wearing on the emotions and the physical if you don't set aside time for yourself to reconnect with family and friends and take care of your own needs as well as the needs of the position.
