Pros

Benefits are great, they pay on average over $3 to ever $1 you invest in profit sharing retirement. There is excellent advancement opportunities if you work hard and shine in your current position. They probably allow more flexability for there management staff to manage then most companies. Great potential to earn a very good bonus for store managers I have known some store managers earn as high as $60,000 just in bonus which is paid out once a year usually march for previous year. Very affordable health and dental insurance choices for you and your family. They offer you decent amount of payroll hours to run your store on average non 24 hour store has 550 hours and 24 hour stores as high as 1000 hours per week.

Cons

Alot of pressure from corporate, they do expect you to drop what you are doing at a minutes notice to make changes in the store. You may have to work very long hours if you have anyone visiting from corporate and the District staff is always way over stressed during these visits. I actually enjoyed my job more as a assistant manager or executive assistant more then a store manager. Reason is once you are in the store management position its like walking on egg shells every day for fear of losing your job. Walgreens is a very conservative company and you always need to cover your back...

Pros

Flexible schedule, request days off and get them. Good benefits. My store has a good family like team. Always busy, always stuff to be done, so day goes fast. We always keep our store well stocked, clean and everyone is customer friendly (and I have visited our rival stores). Employees work together to complete tasks or they can work on their own, competent staff.

Cons

A lot of work, 10$ an hour would be better then what we make. Expect to work weekends and holidays. The new no drinking on the floor policy isn't so great, have to go in back 20 times a day to get a drink, if you work front register this can be a problem. Need to stop downsizing hours and put money back into the employees.

Pros

Their computer system is designed for pharmacists - they spend a lot of money programming it to be smooth and effiecient. Adequately trained Senior Technicians can help out immensely. In the MN district you are allowed to implement initiatives of interest. Additionally, there are specialty pharmacies for HIV/AIDs, Compounding etc.

Cons

The script fill can be very high. At times it would be nice if store managers were willing to help more in the pharmacy considering the pharmacy is the main profit maker.
