Pros

The discount, most of my coworkers were great to work with. I however enjoyed meeting new people but overall do not recommend this place as a career. It is good for a part time job or maybe a college student but it does not pay the bills and the stresses over the job in my opinion were not worth it. Another perk was getting my pictures developed faster and my prescriptions filled in a short amount of time. My favorite position was working in the cosmetics counter, it allowed me to interact and help more customers which is what I truly enjoyed.

Cons

It seemed like a lot. I was in high school and had concerns about leaving the evening shift at a decent time so I could have time to get home and study but a lot of managers didn't take that into priority therefor frustrating me and leaving me with little time to sleep so I couldn't perform well in school and at my job. Also there were managers that did favors for other employees like giving them more and longer breaks while other employees were lucky if they got one in time. I didn't enjoy this company and will never work there again.

Pros

the 401 k pays an average of 3 to 1 compared to other chain stores equal match. The Pharmacist that they have on staff are very helpful to all the technicians and are willing to teach on the job. The training program at Walgreens is very helpful you can start there with no formal training and they will take care of it. Walgreens also pays for you to take the Tech exam and to renew your license

Cons

due to the economy there have been many cut backs on hours and all hourly employees are no longer allowed to work any overtime There is also a policy called fair scheduling in which you must work at least one night shift or one weekend shift per week

Pros

They pay a very good salary. the hours are not bad for a retail setting. overall, a pretty good company to work for in the retail pharmacy business. the computer system is very good and easy to work with.

Cons

The pharmacy is usually very busy and doesn't allow you sufficient time to counsel patients. the job can be very stressful at times, especially dealing with insurance companies and some difficult companies. I do not like having a drive thru, it can be very annoying. the pharmacy doesn't have sufficient tech help, things would run much smoother with better tech help for the pharmacist.
