I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ALDI (Leeds, England) in Mar 2016
Interview
Long process with many stages. The video interviews and online tests harder than most.
Assessment centre was fairly tough, 4 hours of varying tasks. Beginning with introductions and questions about your favourite Aldi product. One of which included a selection of CV's and you had to choose who you would hire. This task was initially individual then a group task with more CV's shown.

Interview
Group interview stage:
First you introduce yourself and then you talk about a specific aldi product that you like and why.
Then there is a group task in which you all have to deciding the best employee to head a project from a selection with personality and career reviews.
Finally you have to present your speech on a topic you are allocated by the interviewer.
The hardest bit is the questions that they ask you on your presentation.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ALDI (Cork) in Jun 2016
Interview
Consisted of an assessment center in their office in Mitchelstown.
C.V review task where participants are given 4 C.V that all have pros & cons and the group must come to a consensus on who would be the best fit for Aldi. A fifth is then added to test if you are willing to change or not.
Psychometric testing - standard maths equations and verbal reasoning under time constraints
Brief introduction of something that interests you where you stand for a minute talking about either yourself or something that interests you.
It is made crystal clear in the interview that a) You will be expected to work hours in excess of 60 hours. b) If you do not reach targets in whatever shop you are placed in that you will be replaced and c) The director structure is relatively flat i.e if you are thinking of progressing from an area manager to a director you have little to no chance in achieving that goal.
Personally if you have a business or technical degree look elsewhere for work, area manager is not going to hold much weight for your prospects in moving into another job down the line.

Also be prepared for obnoxious people shouting over others when the group task occurs.
