I attended a job fair for ALDI stores. It was held at a hotel and approximately 100 people showed up before the doors opened. They herded everyone inside and allowed about 30 people at a time to fill out job applications. After completing an application you were given a short, immediate interview with a professionally dressed older man who did not give his name or title. He looked me up and down and seemed to like what he saw as I'm an attractive professional youngish female. He asked me a couple of questions and did not seem to listen to my responses, which was annoying, but looked at the front page of my application. He was smiling up until he saw that I had a college degree and then his whole face changed and he looked unhappy and annoyed. He said, "You graduated from (university)?" and I said, "yes" and he just looked so disapproving at that point; very annoying as my degree is general and I have no qualms about working for ALDI and the pay advertised was similar to several of my other jobs in the past. He did not flip over the application to see all of my grocery and retail experience; he just said "thanks, we will make a decision tonight for second interviews" and shook my hand like a dead fish, avoiding further eye contact at that point. I did not get a call and this was only the third so-called interview in my entire life that I did not get a job offer or callback. I may sound bitter but I truly felt it was a waste of time.
