I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Center Valley, PA) in Nov 2012
Interview
The first interview was a 1:1. He pretty much had me walk through my resume.. the questions were pretty basic. "why do you want to work for Aldi" "how have you shown leadership in your experience"
I got an email back the next day saying I had been selected for a second interview. The second interview was at the Center Valley headquarters in PA. There were 7 of us applicants and 8 directors in the room. The first 20 minutes were introduction and questions. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE QUESTIONS! The entire day is pretty much you asking questions. After that there was a basic grammar/math test (nothing too difficult). Then we did a tour of the warehouse. This was very insightful. We got to actually have a 1:1 conversation with the floor managers there. Then we had lunch with the directors (make sure you come prepared with questions). After that we went to the store and spoke with a current district manager. They explained that it's a lot of hard work. Your first two years you work 65-70hr weeks. She explained that you are always working weekends (even though they say you only need to work one weekend day a month). In the store, it is pretty much you and one part-time employee. You are the one physically unloading the truck and stocking the shelves (this did not appeal to me). After that we went back and had 1:1 interviews with the directors.
Overall the questions they ask are not too difficult. Know why you want to work for Aldi, why you want to be a district manager, and how you're a leader. They are looking for people to interact with them and fit their corporate culture. They want a hardworker who isn't afraid of a challenge.
