I applied online. I interviewed at ALDI (Melbourne) in Sep 2018
Interview
After waiting 30 minutes after the appointment time ( we were warned if we weren't there 10 minutes early that we would be refused entry), the manager asked the 3 people who showed up some basic questions. Mostly explained how Aldi works- by working their staff to death for minimum wage under conditions from 20 years ago. (It costs money to have computer point of sales equipment). Then told that after 3 years of intense work as a shop assistant(under contract) - you MIGHT be rewarded with
A. No job
B. Shop assistant job
C. Assistant store manager (maybe)

Question 1
Would you undergo a medical check to ensure your ability to work like a machine?
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Chantilly, VA) in Sep 2017
Interview
Long, multiple interviews. I made it to the final cut. Did all new hire paperwork. Waited WEEKS for my background check. Was told by DM that something came back on my background and that I'd receive a letter with an opportunity to explain whatever was on my background.
I got the letter in the mail and it was a withdrawal of their contingent offer of employment. Did not state why or for what reason. I have never been in trouble other than a couple traffic citations (tickets)
Looking back I am glad they revoked the offer. They WILL NOT hire someone into the management trainee program unless you are coming from another employer. You could have 10 years grocery store management but that doesn't matter. They also seem to only hire younger employees and you're only able to become DM if you're right out of college. I was specifically told that store managers can't or don't get promoted to district manager. While the pay seems good, ethics not so much.
