Interview
Applied for Graduate Mechanical/Electrical Engineer UK.
First online test,
Next video interview,
Then assessment centre:
3 activities on the day.
First is a group exercise where you have to build a model train within a certain set of requirements.
Next, there is a 1-to-1 interview with a manager. They ask 4 x standard interview questions and 2 x technical questions. The technical questions are either mechanical or electrical. I picked electrical, and got shown a circuit breaker trip times graph and asked how to reduce the fire risk if a Lithium-Ion battery was used to power a train.
Finally, there is a 1 hour slot to read a case study based on a compressor failure on-board a train. You then present your findings to a manager (again 1-to-1).

Interview
Group interview around 8 candidates in total. Multiple choice tests done beforehand and on the day, group tasks assessed. Some explanation about the company background. 2nd interview badly organised, the person interviewing was under the impression I’d already started but hadn’t been given any details of the offer including location or salary. This experience put me off.
The interview went well with personal questions about past experiences goals and aspiration. They went over the job description and the job overview. The main office did not provide parking but it is easy to find parking around the building.
