I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at AMD
Interview
I got a referral for a position for a research position. I did the first stage of online interviews and the second stage of on-site interviews. Eventually, they chose another candidate who had worked with them previously. However, the hiring manager seemed really sorry and since my interviews went great, they referred me for a computer architect position in a different team. For that position, I did not even pass the screening interview and I got rejected with a copy-and-paste email, even though, during the interview, the other hiring manager mentioned the possibility of skipping some interviews (since I got to the final stage for the other role). Rather weird behavior.

Question 1
Lots of questions on computer architecture (caches, OoO pipelines, ...). No coding.
It was 2 rounds of interviews. The first round is just with the manager. The second round is with members of the team and it is about 5 people on the call.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AMD in Mar 2022
Interview
The interview process at AMD was thorough and professional. It consisted of multiple rounds, including a phone screening, technical assessment, and in-person interviews with various team members. Each stage allowed me to showcase my skills and experience, and the interviewers were friendly and engaging throughout the process.
