Easy and straight forward, online situational test first which is easy to follow and understand. Then in person interview which only lasted about 5-10 minutes explaining availability. Then have an induction day walking you through how the shop works and what you'll be doing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If a customer drops something glass on the floor, how would you react.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ASDA
Interview
First part of the process is online. You have to do a 30(ish) minute long aptitude test, where basic questions are asked such as "which one of these products spoils faster".
If you pass the aptitude test they invite you in for a "asda magic" assessment, where you'll spend an evening with some other people who applied. This is done so they can see how friendly/sociable you are. From the group invite some are kept on as colleagues.
I interviewed at ASDA (Royal Leamington Spa, England)
Interview
My Asda store assistant interview was friendly and straightforward, focusing on customer service, teamwork, availability, and real-life examples. The interviewer was supportive, and the process felt relaxed, practical, and genuinely focused on fit.
The interview process was clear and well-structured. The interviewer created a comfortable environment that encouraged open discussion. Questions were relevant to the role and allowed for detailed responses regarding skills, experience, and future goals. Feedback was professional and constructive, highlighting strengths while identifying areas for development.
