      Associate Software Engineer Interview

      Jan 30, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Mumbai
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Accenture (Mumbai) in Dec 2010

      Interview

There was no filter for applying and showing up at the campus selection program. About 4500 students from whole Mumbai area showed up. The first round was the aptitude test, which included logical, statistical and some questions on English language like comprehension (really! as it was in India and English is a second/third language) For all sections of the written test, a cut-off was set (probably at 80th percentile) and the students who were above that mark were selected for group discussion phase. The groups were made randomly and one Accenture employee was overseeing one group. The topic was usually related to some political scenario or a decision which was recently in the news. From my observation people selected were those who answered reasonably and with some substance rather than just to say something for the sake of discussion. Some were unfortunate that a couple of interviewees got into intense arguments and whole group was rejected. After that the next day, HR interview was set (some people got the technical interview first). HR interview was like any other HR interview in India. Talk about yourself, tell me your weakness and strengths, what do you do with your free time, where do you see yourself in X years etc. The HRs I talked to were very friendly and nice, I had no worries while discussing with them, really took the pressure off. They did observe what I wore to the interview, a formal dress with white shirt and a matching tie (not RED!) will be enough, no suits necessary for entry level positions. The technical interview was a more focused one. I was given a few standard algorithm questions and some questions from OS, Computer Architecture, SQL. The questions were not difficult and you only have a pen and paper to write the code if required and that too in a few minutes. But don't worry about it too much, because the interviewer understands we don't remember the whole library of the programming language and we often need to debug our code after writing. Just make sure that you try to explain your logic as you go on writing the code, any minor mistakes are not focused on, they know you need an actual computer to do it properly. The HR and technical interviews both took around 30 minutes each. And if I remember correctly only 105 out of 4000 were selected.

      Interview

After assessment, Interview is Initial screening only, nothing technical. Consists of common questions so you should practice. I think most candidates get the job. Overall a good experience and would recommend to others.

      Interview

Had long aptitude rounds followed by 3 coding questions. All were pretty easy. Followed by a 10 minute interview held online, not technical, just asked personal questions. The coding questions had web design (HTML & CSS), basic DSA (python, C# or java)
