I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2013
Interview
I was contacted by Amazon's recruiter. After one phone interview, I had an on-site interview at Seattle, WA. The whole process was stressful, even the lunch was an interview: I picked a very noisy place and yelled for one hour to make the hiring manager to hear me. There were two technical interviews before lunch and two after.

Interview
Their recruitment agent found me on LinkedIn and sent me an email inviting me to a phone interview with them. The first interview wasn't so bad. They asked about OOP, sorting, and tree traversal questions. There was some coding done on collabedit.
I heard back from them a week later asking for a second phone interview. The second interview was similar to the first, in which they have a question to see if you are familiar with different data structures, run times and regex.
