I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Oct 2016
Interview
I applied online and was sent two online assessments on the same day. You have to pass the first one before you get the second one. It consisted of "what would you do" questions and some basic math problems. A week later, I received an email for an in- person interview. From email to actual interview, it was 4 business days. They coordinated my flights, put me in a nice hotel, and I opted to use Uber. Everything (including airport parking) was reimbursed. They also sent me a preparation packet which helped while I was practicing.
I arrived at the place for the interview, it was not an actual Amazon facility. I was put in a room with five other candidates and we were asked to introduce ourselves. Then we broke out into our individual interviews. The individual interview consisted of two back to back, 45 minute interviews: one with an operations manager, and another one with a learning manager. The interview was fairly laid back and conversational. I asked a lot of questions to my interviewers afterward, and I took notes as well.
They say they will get back to you in five business days. My interview was on a Wednesday, and by end of business day on Friday, I got an offer.
