      Warehouse Worker Interview

      Apr 23, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Mills River, NC
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Mills River, NC) in Apr 2021

      Interview

The application was fairly straightforward, with a little sorting task. I only had a couple of issues. The ad makes it look like all shifts are open, but you cannot actually see what shifts are available until the end of the application . And then after the ID and drug test appointment, then you wait for your results, and then receive a confirmation email. At this time they tell you to pick your shift again and there were less choices, but with the same hours, but different days. I was disappointed that I only could pick from third shift, basically 1 a.m. till noon the next day. It was a four-day work week, which can be nice but that's a little harsh. The only actual issue on the application was the tax opportunity form. A couple of questions were written in a way that could be interpreted in different ways, and then I could not back out of it and did not know if it would be okay to do it later with them. The ID and drug screen appointment was handled extremely professionally, with very kind people who communicated very well. I found the location fine, but they ought to say that it was at a hotel because there was another person there who did not know they were looking for a hotel for the appointment. I think it is a great job opportunity, but I was again disappointed when I received the confirmation email telling me to set my schedule all over again. And I was offended that the offer per hour decreased $0.50 per hour from the original job I signed up for. This was for the same shift. It is possible that a shift differential would make it the same amount but that was not clear. I do not like to sign up for a job that says x per hour and then when they say that you get it is less per hour. The ad made it look like all shifts were open and I would have preferred second or at least first , so it was not great to finish the two to three-hour application and then only be able to choose third shift. But overall the process was very smooth and understandable, and had a nice little videos to show you what your job could be like. I did receive an offer, but I'm going to look at my options, since I really don't I want to do third shift right now, and because it also lowered in money per hour. But I will remain a candidate and not withdraw at this time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

the application implied a question of being ready for a high-energy job during 11-hour shifts with a lot of movement and temperature variation. There was the application and then there was the ID and drug test so it wasn't a typical interview.

No interview process, went in and had the job essentially. No dress code just documentation to take to get set up on system. All welcoming and friendly though, very informal

      Interview

The entire online process feels relentlessly exhausting and painfully tedious. Every step leads to another obstacle, another delay, another unnecessary complication. Instead of progress, it feels like moving through an endless maze of barriers, friction, confusion, and constant interruptions.

Agency, little contact, limited information, told never allowed to say no. Even if they are braking the rules, they dont like people pointing out issues, as because if they record them thats when they can get in trouble for it.
