Had a first phone interview, then a second phone interview 10 days later, and then followed by on-site interviews 2.5 weeks later. The Amazon interview process is a grueling series of behavioral questions that probe for story after story from your career that should already be demonstrating their Leadership Values.
I received a call about half a week later asking if I would come back in to interview with some other teams for the role as the first set felt I had a great fit at Amazon but not with this role on their team. I then returned for a second round of on-sites a week later, where they asked me many of the same questions and I likely provided many of the same stories considering I couldn't remember which ones I had or hadn't told during my first round of on-sites.
This loop ultimately resulted in no offer after a series of 9 on-site interviews . Other companies seem to have figured out if they do or don't want to hire someone in far fewer interviews - this was a miserable experience and seems to be unique to Amazon.
