contacted via LInkedin, proceeded to answer recruiter questions via email. About a week later a phone screen with GM for one of their facilities (he we polite, but you could tell he wanted no part of the call). Another week went by without any contact, then was invited to a site based interview. Close to 120 candidates for various roles at 4 of their sites nearby each other.
Process that day was expected having read glassdoor reviews. 4 successive interviews based on STAR formatted questions including one where you review your math problem (hint, search on glassdoor.com as the question was almost exact to one i found here). Well controlled process, kept on schedule.
Another week went by, then contact via recruiter (by this time i'd spoken with three separate recruiters) saying "not a fit for this role but what about....". Another week went by and contacted by 4th recruiter telling me i wasn't selected to a role to the Ops Manager role which i knew a week previous.
They sounded more confused than me at every turn. I can appreciate the sheer quantity of staff they are trying to onboard, but what could have been a tightly run process quickly turned into chaos. I've spoken to a total of 9 Amazon.com staff, only one of which had been there more than 1-2 years. Growth at all costs is causing them to add faster than they seem able to control.
