I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon in Jul 2016
Interview
I was recruited through an HR employee on LinkedIn. After I sent my resume to her and successfully passed the first screen, I got an email with a little language, editorial and math test. The next step was a first phone interview with an HR manager. She explained some small details about the position and asked questions about my skills and experience. Then I received another test. Again editorial, language and this time also project management questions. after managing this successfully as well, I had 2 more of these phone interviews. One short one with another HR lady to test my foreign language skills. Then another phone interview with the hiring manager who wanted to get to know me better before scheduling the final round of video interviews with 4 different managers. The final round was scheduled for 4 straight hours with each interview lasting for 45 minutes. The first video interview was with the hiring manager, the second one with another project manager, the third one was another language skills test and the last one with a third HR manager who works on site. The questions asked were the typical amazon principles questions. there's a lot out there on the internet so you can easily prepare for them. It's still tough though as they reaalllly go deep into the details and want to understand how experienced you are. Even though one interview lasted for 45 minutes, only 2 different questions were asked each time. Since I was still at my previous job at that time, I could not go and meet in person with them. So we had to do the video interviews.
Then, if you manage all the interviews successfully, the HR manager calls again to give you a feedback and offers you a salary. At Amazon there's not much room for negotiation but never except the first offer. I was able to get more out :)
All in all it was a challenging but great experience. The only thing I did not like (which I also told them as my feedback) was the process time. To get through the whole interview process took us 8 weeks!
