I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Singapur) in Dec 2017
Interview
I interviewed for another role at Amazon 3 years ago and got all the way beyond the last stage. This time, I flunked at the very first. The irony!
Took about 9 days after applying to get to the 45' phone interview.
Unbeknownst to me, this was with the hiring manager. On call, the lady said she would first explain the role to me, then ask me about myself, and then proceed to make some questions.
Eventually she asked me 3 behavioral questions. Although I answered using the STAR method, on all 3 the add-on followup she asked was just "so what was the result of this?". Like, I just finished saying it!
The 2nd and 3rd questions really hit me hard as I did not think they would get that complicated already at the first interview. Oh well.
Felt the phone call was shaky by the end of it. Sure enough, a few hours later on the same day, I go check the Amazon Jobs portal and the status for my application had been changed from "Under Review" to "Not Selected".
Won't even bother asking for an official rejection email from HR.
The interviewer was quite robotic during the call and I could no feel no emotion or empathetic tone, felt like I wasn't talking to an human being. She also sounded like she was just reading from a script.

Q1: A time when you took a calculated risk, pushed through with it and succeeded.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Luxembourg) in Jun 2017
Interview
I got contacted by HR immediately after my online application. I was invited for an online analytical test.
Then got selected for a first interview over the phone with a manager.
I expected the typical behavioral questions but the interviewer did not ask even a single one. Instead I got math/strategic thinking questions such as "What is the value of a cow?" (among others less business-oriented problems).
Later on was asked potential solutions to the problem I would have been solving in the role I was applying for.
I was too thrown off by the first questions to make a reasonable impression for the rest of the interviewer. Overall it was not extremely difficult if I had managed to keep my calm.
The negative experience was related to the fact that there was no interest in my previous work history during the interview and that they did not send any message saying they decided to pass. I checked the status on the Amazon job application platform instead.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA)
Interview
The initial phone screen was great. I talked with a couple of people on the team about their projects, challenges, things they liked and disliked about what they're doing. I've worked with both large scale and small companies doing both software and infrastructure project / program work. It sounded fun and challenging in keeping business going while expanding a network not built to do what it's doing. I was invited up for an inperson, all expense paid interview. It was an all day, grueling interview from 8:15 am - 4 pm with several people. They all sat with a laptop and asked situational questions. I honestly didn't "click" with any of them and it felt "rote". I'm very collaborative & use to working with bright people all over the world. I always say "we" achieved this or that. I was told specifically by my first interviewer that Amazon wants to hear about what I personally have achieved and not what "we" have achieved. Hmm. I'm a project / program manager not a lone cowboy type. I'm not an architect. I rely on my technical team. I could tell after the first interviewer the roll wasn't for me.
