Question 1
Behavioural Qs all based around Leadership Principles
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Jul 2020
Interview
Typical Amazon interview.
-Recruiter Screening Call
-Interview with Peer
-2nd Interview with another Peer
-8 Hour Full Panel Interview (7 interviewers for 1 hour each, and 1 hour with all 7 interviewers together).
The of the 9 total people I interviewed with, only the folks on the hiring team were focused on my job specific skills, but even then, the emphasis was more on demonstrating my skills and job specific experience in the context of being a cultural fit for Amazon. The vast majority of the interview is focused on behavioral questions and being an amazon cultural fit.

Question 1
Can you tell me about a time that you had to overcome an unforeseen challenge, how you handled it, and what the outcome was?

Interview
Awful, as always. I have had plenty of interviews with Amazon and only do as trying to land a job abroad. I also had previously interviews for roles in London, Luxembourg, Germany etc. I came a few times to their pannel interview. I think I had over 200s interviews in my life but Amazon is one of the worst (if not the worst) experiences. The same annoying format to go over own experience using STAR concept and giving examples based on their principles. Later being bombarded with additional detailed questions. Its stressful and insane given how less they pay vs other companies (although of course getting their shares is a bonus). Im waiting for the times when they will finally change this approach and allow a normal/natural flow of converstation (like ALL other companies) and not treat applicants like robots. And hey, they ask so many follow-up questons I start to make things up to "adjust" to their requirments. What a pile of bs. Good company but the interview is offputting
