Then I had a one-on-One with my would be manager. HR contacted me to extend an offer. Started working 2 weeks later.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at American Express (Phoenix, AZ) in Jun 2011
Interview
they don't have an in-house HR department - recruiting is outsourced (surprise !) It is a long drawn out process and seems like they are testing your patience. Seems like the recruiting department does not care.
