I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Apple (Cupertino, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
I was interviewed into the CloudKit group. This was a technical interview, presumably testing my knowledge and experience in Distributed Systems as well as coding.
There were 4 interview sessions with a lunch in between. In each session there were 2 people in the room asking questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One of the questions was asked by Ahmed Bashir, who (I later learned) was a Director level and the manager of the hiring manager. The question was as follows.
You are given 25 horses. In each race only up to 5 horses can run and each race only reveals the ranking between the horses (i.e., we do not know the actual time). What is the minimum number of races you need to have in order to reveal the 3 fastest horses between the 25.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (Cupertino, CA) in Dec 2018
Interview
Very bad experience with Engineering director
- got a call from recruiter and had a nice talk with very nice recruiter
- talked with hiring mgr (very nice person)
- got an invitation to on-site interview and did very well
- got very good positive feedback from all members who interviewed me
- another phone interview with director and asked me so much questions over 1hr
- another on-site over 1hr with director.
- after all this I got rejection. They didn't say exactly why but I know it's director's choice. They don't even care what other engineers say. Poor management. Bureaucracy is the word I can say for Apple. Very sad to see and I was very disappointed how they treated me like this.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (London, England)
Interview
Three in person interviews on the same day, HR and technical interviews. Some group activities and an individual programming test. Overall an enjoyable but challenging day. I did not have any initial phone/online interview, just got an email for the final round.
