I applied online. I interviewed at Apple (Reading, England) in May 2017
Interview
1st stage - Group interview of around 25 people. Watch 3 videos on Apple (you can find these on their careers page). Group role-play exercise to act out a scenario of a customer coming into the store and how they would be greeted, spoken to etc.
TIP: When coming together to watch the video, try to sit next to people who you'd like to work with for the role play - they place you in groups with the people you're sat next to.
2nd stage - Interview with a Deputy Store Manager and other candidate, firing back to back competency questions.
TIP: Look at Glassdoor! Most of the generic competency questions were asked that people put in their reviews (e.g. Why did you apply to Apple?). Prepare the answers to these questions before the interview so you can hit them with a quality 10/10 answer straight away. They love seeing passion and enthusiasm - so stick to telling about personal experiences and stories.
TIP 2: Make sure you research into the history of the Apple store, what the vision was when it was created, and the many free services that are offered.
3rd stage - Solo interview with Store Manager who wanted to evaluate what role I could play within the store. More competency questions (e.g. What is teamwork to you? / How would you deal in 'x' scenario?). Lasted around 20mins.
TIP: Again, be smiley and passionate and enthusiastic. Try to avoid any negativity in your answers (that's Apple after all). Don't blab and drag on answers longer than they need to be. Make sure you have questions ready to ask at the end.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A customer comes into the store complaining their iPhone has lost all of its data, it hasn't been backed up and it's your fault. How would you deal with this scenario?
The process involved an initial application followed by a screening call with a recruiter. This was followed by one or two interviews with team members, focusing on customer service, problem-solving, and cultural fit. The interviewers asked behavioural questions and scenarios related to handling customers and troubleshooting. Overall, the process was structured, professional, and gave a clear understanding of the role expectations.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (San Diego, CA) in Mar 2026
Interview
One group interview as well as a phase 2/3 interview with the store manager and possibly the director (i didn't make it past the second interview) but everything is straightforward and mainly behavior questions.
