Question 1
The biggest question overall I got from everyone was Why Apple
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Apple (Cupertino, CA) in Feb 2020
Interview
I had a phone screen with recruiter and recruiter manager and talked about different recruiting methods and how i source. They were very helpful throughout the whole process and helped me out whenever I needed to. It was an easy conversation and the whole time was great. Nothing to complain about.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Apple
Interview
I was initially contacted by an internal recruiter via Linkedin. I had a nice chat with him and he presented my resume to the hiring manager. At his go-ahead, he set up a call with a Senior Recruiter on the team.
At the time of the interview, I waited for his call for around ten minutes before letting the original recruiter know that he was a no-show. The original recruiter apologized and said he got called into a meeting and would help me reschedule. When he did finally call me for the rescheduled interview, he did not bother to apologize and was very clipped on the phone. It did not seem like he was the least bit interested in my candidacy, and he mumbled half of the things he said, which made it very difficult to follow what he was saying.
He also seemed to have no knowledge of my background and thought that I was interviewing for a role in an entirely different city! It seems like knowing where an interviewee lives should be a no-brainer, assuming you actually have their resume with location listed on it in front of you for the interview.
He ended up passing on me, and honestly it comes as a bit of a relief to know that I would not be the right fit with recruiters of that "caliber." No wonder Apple products are becoming so derivative, with people like that working for them.
