Online assessment combined with numberical test and video recording questions. 2 mins for preparing and antoher 2 mins to answer. There are 4 interview questions in total. Why BDO, why the role.
I applied online. I interviewed at BDO (London, England) in Nov 2022
Interview
-Straight forward application form, fairly difficult online assessment with mix of strength, numeracy and scenario questions as well as a video interview. The video interview only gave one attempt at recording for each question but unlimited preparation time which was quite helpful compared to other firms such as Grant Thornton. Assessment centre was challenging and included case study, presentation which had to be prepared in 15 minutes which was probably the most difficult part of the full day, the interview was average. The group task like most companies was rather difficult but candidates were given different information to read which was helpful as it gave everyone unique perspectives to suggest. Our group never came to an agreement on time which may have lowered my grade but I’m not sure and felt this wasn’t in my control much as other members were disagreeing on information. I never got the job but candidates can reapply after 6 months which is sooner than other firms such as Mazars and Grant Thornton. Hopefully the September intake roles are still out in May if I haven’t secured anything else by then. One main criticism I have of BDO is the feedback they provide. After the online assessment and assessment centre they provided strength reports but this was quite confusing as it looked fairly negative for the online assessment which I passed but very positive for the assessment centre which I failed. They do not offer any other feedback which is disappointing as these reports seem to present more questions than answers.

Question 1
What appeals to you about BDO? - (I can’t remember the exact wording)
Virtual Assessment Centre. There were about 15 candidates. Everyone is put into one group call that acts as the waiting hall. You get a timetable of meetings and deadlines and interviews. You get a list of tasks and problems to solve. You need to plan your own time and work around the schedule and meet the deadlines.
