Group exercise - before is 'getting to know each other' activity - use this opportunity to memorize candidates’ names!!
You read a booklet about a failing hospital and read 10 options from the back out of which you choose 4 to go ahead with. My advice is to do calculations - any will do, such as %, ratios etc. Someone else made a lot of them and had very good points which he backed up very well too! The assessors will make note of it. My feedback was that I did not take initiative to keep track of time - so make sure you put yourself ahead to hold the group from the beginning, keep reminding about time (so 10 mins left, lets conclude etc).
Also know BDO'S services as that is also part of the task. And you HAVE to speak...which may sound silly but you may get so engrossed in listening to others and analysing that you forget you also have to speak. Make eye contact and note down what the other opinions are.
Presentation - it went pretty well, thought they picked up on small small things which really disappointed me, as I worked so hard on it! I had too much info on my slides (I gave a handout), and that caused the assessor to keep looking down at my slides instead of maintaining eye contact with me. When he looked up, I ended up looking at my own handout, so he thought I was only reading from the slides. So keep info to a minimum and speak all the extra stuff! I got asked 'why this company' and the rest was the assessor giving his own opinions on the company, it was very relaxed.

How would you provide exceptional client service and give examples? Teamwork examples?
How will future regulatory changes/current changes affect firms/BDO?

Interview
There was 3 people at the assessment day including me but none were applying for the same role. Started with a group exercise where we basically planned an induction day wasn't hard and we were watched by 2 assessors. Then lunch where 3 current trainees came and talked to us. Then an interview with a partner. Was very relaxed he did more talking then me. None of the questions were hard and we talked through my answers. Lasted about 40 mins. Then a presentation based off the group task where you talked through your ideas with someone. Wasn't really a presentation just spoke through my ideas for 10 minutes and then was asked some questions. At the end there was a written task which was an email that you had to reply to. It was skill based on the original group task and was about how you would change the day for experienced hires. The whole day was run really well and didn't feel like you were being assessed more just getting to know some of the people who worked there while they got to know you. Overall you can't really prepare for the day so just go in feeling confident and smile. Just find a few things about the company and the job role you find interesting.
