Interview
Applied for the Experienced Associate Consultant position in the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) office. The process felt disorganized and subjective.
They advertised candidate support from a “Bainie,” but I only received a generic prep booklet. First-round case had no math, despite the prep stressing the importance of mental math and market sizing. The interviewer asked very random pressure-testing questions that were more likely to distract the interviewee than guide them.
Process was 4 rounds, case-by-case elimination — one shot per round, no second chances. Early rounds weren’t standardized. My first interviewer was a newly promoted consultant with full authority to eliminate candidates and block reapplication for 12 months.
Overall, a long and unclear process that felt more about luck than merit. Haven’t seen a non-MBA experienced hire in years; that alone says a lot.

Standard interview process for Bain: first you need to solve the SOVA, then a brief phone call, then 2 rounds of interviews (first online, with 3 interviews / second in person with partners).

1 HR Interview, then two rounds of 2 case interviews (4 case interviews in total). Entire process happened in less than one month (between HR interview and final feedback)
Quick feedback between each round, and overall very transparent process.
