My interview was straighforward and what I would expect from a consulting interview. The format of the interview was common: fit, competency, strategic thinking and then my turn for questions . My interviewer was friendly and formal.

Interview
The interview process for a Data Scientist role at Bain typically involves multiple rounds designed to assess both technical expertise and problem-solving ability. It usually starts with an initial HR or recruiter screening, followed by one or two technical rounds that include case studies, SQL, Python, or statistics-based questions, and sometimes a take-home assignment or business case. If successful, you move on to interviews with senior data scientists or consultants, which often test your ability to draw business insights from data and communicate clearly. The final round is usually a behavioral or fit interview with leadership to evaluate alignment with Bain’s values and team culture. Overall, the process is structured yet collaborative, with each step offering a chance to demonstrate both technical depth and strategic thinking.

Interview
There are two rounds of interviews, with a recruiter and senior managers, preceded by an online test gorilla screening. The screening is very technical, each question you only get about 1 minute to answer. They are on either math, reading comprehension (similar to LSAT) or logic.
The first interview round is a 30 minute case question as well as a 20 minute behavioural interview. The second round is more predominantly behavioural but does include another case as well.
