I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Barclays (San Francisco, CA) in May 2009
Interview
The HR was very tough and cold. Very random questions and many basic questions such as "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Did not have a connection. I hope I will be more lucky next time. I my opinion Barclays is a good company. I will try again.
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Barclays in Jan 2008
Interview
The hiring process was brief , barely lasted for about 30 mins, where they grilled me on my resume, my past experience, my MBA curriculum.
Advice to other prospective applicants - dress up well, know your resume, smile.
People - nice though aggressive , hence be yourself , quick thinking def helps as they will ask a lot of personality based questions

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Barclays in Nov 2007
Interview
I got the interview through employee referral. General 1:1 interviews with the hiring manager, the direct report manager, director, and then a few of the team members. The hiring manager in HR took the lead with all communication and was prompt and courteous throughout the process. The company is extremely business-oriented and you have to come off in that manner. The culture is more laid back but definitely got the impression that you had to work really hard in order to play hard.

Question 1
basic questions about background, goals, why wanted to work for BGI. Nothing unexpected or surprising. I believe there was also questions regarding how you would handle "x" situation or "y" coworker.
