Question 1
Describe a situation when you didn't achieved what you have set as your goal.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Barclays (Singapur) in Oct 2009
Interview
The online application form took some time to fill up as I did not have any prior experience regarding applying to such organizations. After that I was invited to take a standard psychometric test.
Shortlisted candidates were invited to an assessment center where we had to take part in a group exercise. The first part involved a task called time prioritization where we were given a list of 20 choices and had to select the top five. After that, we had to justify our selection to the assessors. The second exercise involved a case study, where we had to prepare a presentation in under an hour. A few hours later we were notified of our selection for a final interview. The interview consisted mostly of some behavioral questions, questions about the 2007-2009 financial crisis and some standard HR fare, ie, why do you want to work in Barclays Capital, and so on. The technical round was mildly challenging and I was asked some basic questions in C++, C# and Java.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Barclays (New York, NY) in Nov 2009
Interview
I am still waiting on their offer; however, I was notified that I was a finalist candidate and therefore I believe to have a good chance.
My first round interview was with a director at the technology group. It was quite long (almost one hour) and the guy asked me a lot of technical questions, mostly about server infrastructure and high-level systems related issues.
My second interview was only about 5 minutes. He just went through my resume, asked me some q's and told me "I liked what I saw". A week later I got an email from HR telling me I was in the final selection process.
Overall, technical knowledge is necessary and they seem to be very flexible given that it is a new company.
