I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Tampa, FL) in May 2015
Interview
I applied online on May 8th, on the 12th I received a call to setup an interview on the 14th.
First Interview was with the Assistant Store Manager. I waited in the Home Theater and Surround Sound for him as I arrived early. Act casual and small talk on the way to the room for the interview. "Busy today?" or just something to start building a social rapport right of the bat. We sat down in the front office and we finished the conversation we were having on the way to the room. He then asked about my previous experience and fortunately he was an Ex-IT Industry so me being someone who knew a lot of about computers and who builds them I was able to start up a conversation about them. I let him ask the standard background experience questions and after a few I then asked him "Whats it like back there in computers this time of year(Economical Climate is seasonal based where I live). When I told him I was ex-technical support and when he mentioned He was IT also I asked him about what he did before best buy also! The in between small talk shows you can star and hold a conversation! This is important! He said that most people come in here that just answer the questions with a bunch of awkward silence in between the interview. Availability is something he also said would push me on to the next interview. In retail at Best But Open or Nights and Weekend availability will get you that second interview! Show you are charismatic and friendly! After everything was done he said "We'll be in touch over the next couple of days".
3 or 4 days later I received a call to schedule my 3rd interview with the Store Manager on the 19th.
Same process as before come in and wait. Small talk on the way to the backroom for an interview. Engaging conversation as before. Ask them about the company and the atmosphere before they ask you! Show you are interested in working there! We spent a good 45 minutes talking about something totally unrelated about computers. But when we got back to the essential interview he told me that "We would probably extend you a job offer, and I'll talk it over with the other store manager to see if we think you'll be a good fit." He then asked about salary expectations and other things.
On May 21st I received my Job Offer Email and began my first day on the 24th!
