I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy
Interview
1st interview was over the phone where the hiring representative asks your availability and a few simple questions and gives you an interview date, 2nd interview i had with the assistant manager because the typical manager was on maternity leave and he asked me a bunch of questions off a sheet and wrote down my answers, 3rd interview is with the general manager (finally) whom makes the final hiring decsion and his or her questions are more focused on pay, and how you want to be treated in the workplace.
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Reno, NV) in Nov 2011
Interview
I applied online one day and a few days later I got a call last Thursday. This was the phone interview. She asked me a few questions like how much do I want to work at Best Buy, what positions I want, and my availability. That was it. She then set me up for a 1:1 interview with some sort of management for the next day, which was Friday. I went in (in slacks and a nice dress shirt) and the interview lasted about 40 minutes. He asked me lots "describe to me a time when..." scenarios. Describe to me a time when you went above and beyond for someone, describe to me a time when you worked with someone you didn't get along with, etc. After all the typical interview questions, he asked me if I had any questions. ASKING A QUESTION IS GOOD. Prepare your question now, if you have none ask something you already know the answer to. It shows you have legitimate interest in the company. After he answered all my questions he shook my hand, said the interview went well, and I should be receiving another call for a third interview with the General Manager sometime next week (this week now). That call came on Wednesday of this week, from the same lady, and we set up the third interview for Friday (yesterday). I went in wearing the same slacks and nice dress shirt. This last interview was a lot more relaxed and fun. The interviewer was very laid back and was overall a nice guy. He asked me a few of the same "describe to me a time when..." but not nearly as much as last time. He then asked me about myself. He proceeded to talking about what positions he wanted me in, and how they worked (this is my first job). He then offered $9 an hour, asked me to sign some stuff, gave me the drug test, and said to expect a call scheduling training and orientation. Currently waiting on that call and the drug test results.
