I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Manassas, VA) in Jul 2010
Interview
I applied online, which consisted of basic application questions and a personality test, and then came in to introduce myself to a supervisor. He gave me an interview the next day along with the outgoing supervisor (at the time) and asked various questions about my experience, personality, what sets me apart, and why I wanted the job. After completing that interview, I was given an interview with a manager who asked me about employee theft and then offered me the job.

Interview
Well through my current manager at my current job I heard that our local Best Buy was hiring. So, I applied, and within less than a week (can't remember exactly how long it took) I got a call (it was on a Monday). The phone call/phone interview basically consisted of some lady asking me if I knew that this was for a part time job and not seasonal, and what my availability is like now and when school starts. She asked what departments I wanted to be in. Then she asked if I could come in for an interview and I ended up going in that day (Monday) for a 1:1 interview. I don't honestly know where this second lady stood as far as management, she was some kind of manager I guess. She asked me typical interview questions, nothing like you wouldn't be exposed to in any other interview. Not hard. She also asked me what departments I wanted to be in and told me what was available. Then she asked if I could come in 2 days later (Wednesday) for an interview with the GM, which, from what I hear on the internet that means you're in if you get an interview with the GM. So then I went to the interview with him and he asked similar questions as the 1:1 interview as far as interview questions go. This is also where you kind of solidify what department you want to work in and where you discuss the drug test and the pay rate. He seemed super cool and chill and my interview process was like over an hour because we just talked and stuff. It was really chill and easy-going. He told me about how the selling process works, what to expect working here, bonuses, lots of things like that. Then he told me to take a drug test (I went to a Lab Corp and took it) and that it would take like a week to go through and all that. I also hear on the internet (I did a lot of research on this job haha) that you have 48 hours to go take your drug test but he told me to go that day so I did. 6 days later (the following Tuesday) I was informed that all my paperwork and stuff came back good so I start orientation on Thursday! I'm pretty excited, I'm having a hard time finding many complaints about Best Buy so I look forward to it! So the total process from beginning to end was like 8 days or so :)
