I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Best Buy (Burnaby, BC) in Nov 2011
Interview
Open house call for Seasonal team via CL post
no specifics of qualifications really given possibly only high school diploma and some retail experience
interviewed done by a team on a first come first served basis
overheard one young interviewer telling an older candidate that the nature of that job did not favor women, i guess he was referring to merchandising
during interview manager really wanted to know "why best buy"
also asked about background knowledge of bb including its affiliation with future shop
went through resume
asked about weaknesses
manager did not divulge nature of job, duration or pay rate
upon more probing manager was insistent on the ENERGY in the place
little interview protocal or etiquette, definitely a screeening interview even though manager stated that it was a first and second interview combined
other questions: how do you deal with stress?
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Best Buy in Oct 2010
Interview
I applied online for a seasonal position, and got the call the next day. I was asked a few questions on the phone about my availabilty, which department I wanted to work in, and other general questions like that. I came in for my interview about two days later, and had an interview with one of the managers. He asked general interview questions such as "What do you like and dislike about working in a team?", "If I asked one of your previous teachers or coaches about what you could improve on, what would they say?", and he also said that it's usually hard for them to justify hiring someone with no experience, such as myself, so he wanted to know why he should hire me. After the first interview I was asked back for a second interview that same day with the GM. Second interview asked a few of the same questions as the first. Also asked what department I was interested in working it. Even though I applied for a cashier position they hired me as a sales associate. The GM made the job offer that day. I've been working at Best Buy for a little over a month now and I love it. It's stressful at times but my coworkers and the managment make it fun at the same time. So far I have no complaints.

Question 1
What is one thing you like and one thing you dislike about working as a part of a team?
The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Best Buy in Jan 2009
Interview
1st interview is over phone. This involves very basic questions.
2nd interview is a multi-hour group interview. Includes many team building activities and personal assessment for sales and customer service know-how. "" Be sure when working on your "improved or brand new product" you are active in leading, planning, presenting and answering questions. The managers want to see you can speak and sell products when you are on the floor.
3rd interview is the negotiating/offer interview. Will be with the GM of the store to negotiate salary, starting date, etc.
