The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Best Buy (Gilbert, AZ) in May 2012
Interview
I applied online on May 25th. However, I also walked personally into the store and spoke to a supervisor who wrote down my name and said he'd put have them check out my application. The next day I received a call from a sales associate who set me up for an interview on the 29th. I dressed up in a suit and tie, went in for my first interview; I was asked about 8 questions during this, ranging from 'Why do you want to work at Best Buy?" to "How would you convince a customer to purchase a product here when they could go home and buy it on Amazon for cheaper?" Made small talk during the interview, was pushed into the second interview 5 minutes later, and then told to come back an hour later for the third interview. Was asked the same general questions in each interview, it was relatively easy and the interviewers were all very friendly!
Some tips:
~Lack of retail experience will not stand in the way of you getting this job. They are clearly looking for personality in the interview process, and spoke to me about that as well.
~Don't skimp on dressing up nicely. Many of the guys who I saw come in weren't dressed up, however myself and all those that were came in for second interviews.
~Be prepared for many questions about how you would deal with customers in different situations.
~They ask the typical interview questions as well, such as "Describe a situation in which you have gone above and beyond for someone else?" and "What would you do if you saw an associate stealing?"

Question 1
Many customers come in here to scape out products, then go home to purchase them online. How would you convince a customer to purchase a product here while they are in the store, rather than purchasing it online from another company?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Frisco, TX) in Sep 2011
Interview
One of the most relaxed interviews I've ever had. The supervisor asked the normal questions. She approved, got the manager, he asked a few more questions. They looked at each other nodded there heads, asked how much I wanted to be paid and agreed.
Super Easy.
