I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Princeton, NJ) in Dec 2019
Interview
This interview process is quite lengthy. It begins by applying for the position and within a week or two you should know whether you move onto the next step. The next step is a one-sided, self-recorded interview with five questions. Understand the role very well and what Bloomberg does. One question asked me what was one project I worked on in which is worked with a large dataset. Within a few days after submitting your responses, you should find out whether you will be invited to a Superday at the Princeton office. The Superday visit will consist of three interview activities. The first is a group activity with the other interviewees. All the interviewees will be split into two groups and asked to read a recent news article. One group will be asked to argue in support of the article while the other group will argue against the article. The next interview activity is a technical quiz asking questions on SQL and Python code, data mining techniques and procedures, and basic statistics. The last interview activity is probably the most difficult in which you will be interviewing with two Bloomberg employees. You will be given two processes for which data is brought in and how it is handled, processed, cleaned, and outputted for use. You will be asked to provide recommendations for how to improve each of these processes. Be sure to explain your recommendations. Overall, the this interview process was one of the better ones I have had because all the activities emphasize collaboration and make it feel less like you are competing with the other interviewees.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself.
Tell me about a time when you handled a large dataset.
In your own words, what is your understanding of this role.
The interview wasn't well designed.
We were supposed to have 1 hour interview but I guess some main questions were left til the very end and we did not have enough time to cover those questions.
I rushed through their questions because I was busy that day. The interviewer did ask me if I wanted to stay and discuss more but I really couldn't.
So we were both left unsatisfied. I couldn't answer as well as I could, and I may appear as uninterested as I simply did not have the extra time for them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They gave a bunch of terminologies such as VWAP, market depth, order book etc and asked me to explain.
Not difficult but I had like 30 secs or less to answer each as we were running out of time.
Only took the video interview. There were 5 behavioral questions that you have time to prepare. Mainly focusing on your understanding of the company, why this position, and the relevant experiences that would make you a good candidate.

Question 1
Self-introduction and motivation.
Describe a data project you’ve worked on and the challenge you faced.
it was very quick. I got offer in less than a month. The interviewer was fine but later experience in the team was bad. Specifically ask what team you will get in.
