Interview process involved a short application with a cover letter & resume, followed by online testing, a digital interview, phone interview and in person interview. I only progressed to the phone interview
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Digital Questions:
- Describe a time where you have had to sell something
- What are three important techniques to use in sales
- Why do you want to work for bloomberg
- Relevant recent news story that you are following
The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bloomberg (London, England) in Dec 2017
Interview
Way too many stages in the interview process. Got to the second last stage- interview with 2 managers from Sales and Analytics. Friendly enough. One manager was in the room with me, the other connected via video conferencing- a horrible mess as you have to keep turning your head to the TV to keep engaged with both managers. Bloomberg tries to sell you the idea that you can come from any background as they have world-class finance training- but then in the interview will hammer you with specific finance/market questions and are perplexed if you can't answer them. Even worse, a friend actually got rejected because she said that if she would do a Master's it would be in international business- not finance- and this was the reason for rejection in the feedback. You will be asked to do a Sales pitch- the interviewer will keep firing back at your sale attempt- and if it's not 100% perfect they will reject you. They will ask you what other companies you are interviewing with/where you applied, and if you say any company or any other field they will reject you because "Bloomberg is not your first choice". I got the impression they want you to prove that you need them- not that the company needs you. They will look for any and all reasons to reject you based on a small factoid or 1 word you said wrong. Overall a very demanding and interrogating interview, which is a million times harder than any big 4 assessment center (where I just landed a job offer).
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
What growth opportunities are there for future sales of the Bloomberg Terminal? What companies/countries?
Suppose you are selling Bloomberg terminal to a company but they refuse to say what they would use it for or why they would need it. How do you sell it to them? Don't just list the features.
