I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Hongkong) in Nov 2015
Interview
Two rounds of phone assessment (Why Bloomberg, a piece of financial news, what did you do in your previous intern etc). Got invited to the assessment center (3hrs long). Group discussion with 6 ppl (SWOT analysis), one on one interview with a person from sales and a person from analytics (15 mins each, role playing). Bloomberg terminal use (no need prior knowledge in Terminal) and a small group discussion (3ppl) in front of assessors in rating priority of emails.
Got invited to the next round of interview. 30 minutes shadowing analytics team and an hour - long interview with a manager from analytics and a manager from sales.
Very tough role playing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How will you deal with an angry customer who wishes to terminate bloomberg use?
The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Bloomberg in Oct 2015
Interview
Phone interview 5 days after applying. Other basic questions about your background and experience in sales. Why do you want to work in sales? What do you know about the function of this position? etc. Email a couple days later saying that the company would not be moving forward with me in the process but to continue to apply to their jobs.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Tokio) in Nov 2015
Interview
This was for the Tokyo office. Applied online, heard back within a week and was had a initial phone interview. Contents were fairly basic, quick run through the resume and general motivations on applying for the job. Make sure you know what the position is about, despite being "analytics" for the most part you will be handling requests from clients that use the terminal, hence customer service. Second interview was an in-house interview that started with 30 minutes of shadowing a member in the analytics team, like a fair share of other posts suggest, show your curiosity towards the job here. Make sure you are engaging the team member you are shadowing and showing excitement. Right after the shadowing was an interview with two team leaders from sales and analytics respectively. Again run through the resume, albeit in more details this time, be prepared to have detailed questions asked relating to anything that is on the resume. Also had behavioural questions, the key here is to have anecdotes prepared on teamwork and leadership. Know what kind of "leadership style" you possess. Another anecdote that would be immensely useful is anything that deals with handling unreasonable requests, since these can frequently come from clients on the other end of the Bloomberg terminal. Third round interview was with a Sales manager and an HR in charge of APAC recruiting in general. Once again have concise and compelling reasons as to why you want to work in Bloomberg and why finance (especially if you are not from a finance background). The toughest part of this interview was the role playing part, in which you are put on the spot and have to respond to an unreasonable client who is requesting to cancel his subscription because he wasn't able to fully utilize it.
