I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Boeing (Saint Louis, MO) in Jun 2008
Interview
The initial position was posted online in February and I applied right away. The requisition number did not close until April, two months later. I was contacted in May to fill out a more in depth application and then later that month I was asked to schedule a phone interview in June.
The phone interview was done by a panel of managers and leads from the company. It is what I have come to know as the standard behavioral interview where they ask you about situations you have encountered in the past and ask for the situation, action, and results. For example, please tell us about a time when you did X, or please tell us what your role in X situation was, what action did you take, and what were the results? Panel members look at how well you draw from your work experiences or other relevant experience from school or volunteer projects.
I was given an offer and asked to respond almost immediately. The initial offer was written like I was an unemployed recent college graduate offering a salary that was lower than my job at the time. I did not agree with their terms, so I countered their offer. At the same time I had to begin the background investigation and drug testing.
When I sent my counter offer to the HR representative, he was somewhat rude. Then they countered my offer with something kind of inbetween which they said was their "best and final offer." I thought it was a much better offer and decided to accept it.
Next, they wanted me to start right away, not even giving me time to give my current employer notice. I argued that if they were my current employer, they would not be very happy with an employee like that and I was able to negotiate a better starting date.

Sometimes it is hard to think of the perfect situation to fit the behavioral questions.

Interview
Phone interview then an on-site, group interview. Two engineering managers on the phone and at the group interview. Very impressive tour of the production facility. Behavioral interview questions. Had to relate the questions to my previous job experience. Laid back and very comfortable process. Phone interview then in-person interview seems to be the standard Boeing procedure.

Explain how you use Lean tactics in your current position.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Boeing (Saint Louis, MO) in Nov 2008
Interview
Note: this position was targeted at recent college grads.
A couple weeks after submitting my resume to their website, I received an automated email saying I was being considered for the position, and I had to fill out a more detailed online application. A week or two after that I was contacted via email requesting a phone interview, which I accepted. The phone interview was conducted by two hiring managers and lasted about 30 minutes. They took turns asking fixed questions, 6 in total. Most questions were not technical in nature, but rather involved describing some situation in the past and how I handled it. At the end of the phone interview they indicated that they would like to bring me out for an on-site interview.
The on-site interview was set up for a few weeks later (they had fixed dates), and I was there with a group of 6 candidates in total. They flew me out the night before and back on the same day after the interview. The interview lasted from 9am - 3pm. It involved presentations by them about Boeing, the work environment, and benefits; three one hour one-on-one interviews with representatives from different Boeing groups; and a tour of the facility. At the end of the day, they indicated that offer/non-offer packets would be sent out that night. I received the offer two days later.
