I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Booking.com (Tomsk) in Apr 2022
Interview
The interview process had 5 stages:
- pre-screening
- HR-interview
- coding interview
- system design interview
- cultural fit
Interview process was really interesting. It is more FAANG0-like. But at the same time it is not puzzle-tasks. All questions are more or less Booking business domain related.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I had following question on coding and system design sections:
1. Question about hotel rooms availability.
2. Question about antifraud system.
Cultural fit was more or less standartized. Most question was about behavior in different situations.
I applied online. I interviewed at Booking.com (Singapur)
Interview
- Recruiter screening.
- HackerRank assignment. Some DSA questions and general knowledge for the position.
- Take-home assignment specific to the role.
- Pair-programming on the take-home assignment. Pair with 2 engineers, explaining the implementation, debugging, enhancing, refactoring, or adding more test cases.
- System design.
- Behavioral interview.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Apr 2026
Interview
There are three rounds:
Pair programming, System Design and Culture Fit.
The recruiters try to send all information about the format of the different rounds.
Generally the process is quite fast, and they can even fit it all in a week's time.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Feb 2026
Interview
They contacted me via email. There was an HR call explaining the process, then another call to get me ready for the interview. One online coding round and one system design, followed by a hiring manager interview.
I did not like the process because of two reasons:
1. The HR calls I had were so unprofessional, I mean on a different level unprofessional. Didn't expect this from booking. The guy either woke up 5 minutes before the call or slept right after, don't know which, but used the excuse of bad internet connection for the voice and not turning on camera. Unpleasant discussions there.
2. Talking to the HR, I made sure PHP is in the list of the languages for the HackerRank problem I'm supposed to solve on the coding round. Also mentioned the fact that sometimes this is not the case, that's why I'm asking and wanna make sure about this, so that if it's not I can use my time to practice with a different language. They assured me that I can use PHP. Fast forward to the interview, boom, no PHP option. Lost my focus since most of the time I was trying to remember how to do something in Python. However they offered me to write pseudocode, still, I didn't feel fine and was surprised and lost myself there.
