The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Broadcom (Irvine, CA) in Nov 2008
Interview
The phone interview seemed to have three parts, the first part, I was asked to describe my career history and basically tell something about myself. I guess this was mainly intended to get me feeling comfortable, and to eliminate any nervousness. The second part of the phone screen is the technical problems/questions: like what volatile means in C, recursiveness etc. The third and final part of the interview was letting me do the questioning.

Question 1
What are the main disadvantages of a recursive function call in C in a resource constrained embedded system?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Broadcom (Irvine, CA) in Aug 2010
Interview
Started out as a professional interview process with a short phone interview one week, then communication from the HR recruiters to schedule the in person interview the next week. Interview was with four people and almost four hours long. Received a positive follow up call from the recruiter confirming that I would hear a decision within a week.
Never heard from them again even after leaving messages and emails asking for some kind of status. Their lack of a follow up left a negative impression on me.
