I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Broadcom (San Diego, CA) in May 2013
Interview
First was phone screen, asked mainly about resume and background. Was interested in my undergrad project, which was about LTE. Asked two puzzles, about probability which was not really hard.
About 3 weeks later got onsite interview. 1:1 for 2 rounds, 1 hour each. I worked one of the managers later on during my internship.
Interview questions [1]

Very few coding questions, asked about static, global, volatile variables.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Broadcom (San Jose, CA) in Mar 2011
Interview
4-5 interviews minimum. Technical depth, process awareness, communication skills, leadership qualities, areas of strength specifically as identified in the resume, specific examples that show capability and initiatives. Interviews are typically covered in a single day, but in some cases the candidate is brought in for the second or even third time especially for marketing jobs where cross functional interaction is important. Have good references as that really helps.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Broadcom (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2015
Interview
A thorough interview. Lots of tough but good technical questions. People are very nice. They will ask what skill you put on your resume. They may ask some other things not on the resume. For me I just told them I never did any of those works.
