I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Canva (Sydney) in Apr 2021
Interview
I found the interview process to be very considered - from my first zoom meeting with the recruiter I was briefed on the stages and clear expectations were set around timeframes and feedback.
The agenda was clearly communicated at the beginning of the zoom meeting during each stage with an opportunity for me to ask questions before we got stuck in. I felt at ease with the interviewers who were really easy to talk to and made the process feel less like an interview and more a chat to get to know each other. Feedback was shared back with me within 24 hours after each stage and it felt like it was given with the intention of helping me to prepare for the next stage which was very much appreciated.
In the final stage I shared the work I completed for the take home design challenge followed by questions about past roles and my career aspirations. This was a 2 hour interview so naturally I was a little nervous but the interviewers made it a really positive process and it felt like they wanted to see me shine rather than interrogate to find potentially hidden faults and secrets as I’d experienced when interviewing at companies in the past.
I had a great feel for the company culture from the chats I had with the interviewers who’s responses to my questions were very honest and genuine. I was offered the role but I genuinely felt that if I wasn’t, I’d be able to walk away with some thoughtful feedback which would help me approach this process more confidently in the future.

Interview
Had two interviews. The first one with an in-house recruiter and the second with a senior manager. Both of them were friendly and seemed very happy to work at Canva.

Second interview - questions were around my aspirations, what I wanted to do next, what I value in life, my working style, how I communicate with stakeholders etc She also asked situational questions specific to the role e.g. how would you go with XYZ, what would you focus on the first three months etc

Interview
You went through so many process and numerous design tasks only to find out that you weren't fit in the end. That's frustrating! I even asked them what I should work on and so, but no response. The interviewers were nice tho, they made you feel at home.
