I applied online. I interviewed at Canva in Feb 2021
Interview
It was very smooth, everybody was very friendly. It took about 3 skype calls before they finally let you know the result. If you passed those, they will let you have a call directly with the dept in-charge.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What project from your experiences were you most proud of? Explain your process as well.
The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Canva (Sydney)
Interview
Interviewed with their only Product Marketing Manager at the time. Overall the interview was medium difficulty but found the process quite unprofessional as the interviewer visibly pulled faces on items lost or unclear over video call. No time for qs at the end from candidate side, funnily a very dismissive behavior towards answers and no follow-up post interview from Canva side. Would have atleast expected a status and what went well plus what missing in terms of their expectations. Our potential future colleagues help sell us the position as much as any of us as candidates going through the process. Luckily for me, this time I wasn't sold on them.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Canva (Sydney) in Mar 2021
Interview
One initial chat with the recruiter, where they will push to lock in a salary (on the lower side) before going through any kind of technical assessment.
An initial technical assessment followed by a round of 4 interviews (3 technical). Some of the interviewers were not very friendly and didn't look like they were trying to help you succeed.
Some interviewers had an accent that was hard to understand. Considering that interviews are remote and the sound quality can be degraded, I would recommend having a properly written version of the excercise and the expectations.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The initial assessment is an exercise around calculating the average colour given shapes. Eventually, you will be required to use some sort of recursion as the shapes can contain children shapes.
The technical interviews are a snake game, digital clock and a "UI Generator". This last one is given an object (with properties that can be objects too), generate a form. When any input is updated, log the new value. This exercise is quite poorly worded so it might take a while to understand what they actually are asking for.
