Interviewer went for a long lunch and missed the interview. After waiting around in the call for 15m I left. Accepted an offer elsewhere after that before going through the interview process any further.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Canva (Wellington, ) in Feb 2023
Interview
Initial chat with the recruiter who reached out to me via LinkedIn was great.
Second interview was practical with two QA Managers. I was taken to a site and asked to manually test a flow and explain to them my thought process (sharing my screen).
One of the interviewers would ask me questions such as 'Are you sure' and 'Do you think there's anything else' and made me second guess myself a lot. He wasn't very friendly either and seemed annoyed at me the whole time. I was also asked to complete some basic coding.
Over the 1.5 hours I was getting a bit flustered and lost my confidence.
I was a bit annoyed they made me keep going as I clearly wasn't getting the job.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Canva in Apr 2024
Interview
The hiring process was very long, involving 4 rounds. The first one was a chat with the recruiter, followed by a panel interview with a couple of Product Managers about your product success story and favourite product. Then, you need to do a take home exercise about Canva Pro, followed by another panel interview with a couple of Product Leads. I didn't get to the final round though, but I was made aware that this would involve speaking with the Head of Product. Although the whole process was long and involved lots of preparation, the recruiter is there to support you every step of the way, making you feel that they want you to be successful.
