I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Capital One (Houston, TX) in Mar 2021
Interview
Applied Online in Jan. 2021. Recruiters first reached out in late Feb. 2021 to schedule interview, so don't worry if it feels like they are slow to getting back to you. First virtual Interview in mid March, with results back in 1 week. Superday was in early April with results back in 1 week as well.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
This was during COVID so all interviews were conducted via Zoom. A Graphing Calculator is allowed at all stages of the interviews.
First Round was an interviewer led mini case with an alum from my school. It was a fairly straightforward 20 minute profit/loss case (much simpler than traditional management consulting interview - about a PrepLounge easy difficulty with medium level calculations if that helps). Spent 10 minutes after case just getting to know interviewer better.
After the first round you are connected to another alum from your school who will be your buddy to help/practice a mini case with. They will give you advice and answer any questions you need before the Superday.
Second (Final Round/Superday): 3 hour (9am - 12pm) Superday with 3 cases. Since it was online, if you finished an interview early you had some time to yourself in between interviews.
1st Case: Interviewer led Profit/Loss case with heavy emphasis on calculations and numbers (Case itself in terms of Strategy Analysis was PrepLounge easy, but the numbers calculations were pretty difficult even though you are allowed a calculator).
2nd Case: Product Interview. Two parts.
- Part 1: 10 ways to improve a generic every day product (water bottle, lunch box, etc.) You just take a minute to list out your improvements and verbally explain them to the interviewer
- Part 2: Interviewer led Product Improvement Interview. Interviewer asked to think about a tech product that is commonly used and takes you through questions about how to improve it (user base, distribution channels, new features, market size/growth, etc.)
3rd Case: Another interviewer led Profit/Loss Case with more emphasis on graphical analysis. Strategy aspect was again Preplounge Easy or Medium, but numbers analysis was on the difficult size.
Note: During the Superday interviews, there will be an interviewer, but there might also be another person in charge of assessing the interviewer's performance as well.
hope this helps x)
Online problem solving exercise, followed by a 3 hour "powerday" with two cases and one product strategy interview. Cases are very numerical, more focus on calculations, and a few creativity based questions as well.
