Interview
MISCOMMUNICATION ISSUES - please sort this out within your recruitment team Co-op. I waited 2-3 weeks just to hear back from the Co-op. At first, I received an email saying "Sorry, you have been unsuccessful and we will no longer proceed with your application". Then 1 week after receiving this email, I received a phone call and an email from the Co-op saying that they wanted to interview me. I went ahead with the interview via Microsoft Teams eventually. Although they rejected me, I asked for feedback from the hiring manager and they just said "There were other candidates who were better suited to this job".

Interview
Having done my research I attended the interview prepared, expecting to be asked the questions in the 5 key areas. I arrived for my interview to be told the shop manager had been called away at short notice. It was then decided after some discussion that a team leader would do the interview. We went to an office where he said to me "I've not done an interview before, just give us a minute I need to phone somebody up to find out what questions to ask you!!". From that moment on I knew this wasn't going to go very well. He came back looking completely lost and asked me why I want to join the Co-op. After giving my reply the interview was over. He asked for my availability, which I provided but also gave him more information about my background as I thought it would be good for him to know since he never asked about it. Having worked within emergency services and currently working in retail I am more than qualified to take up this position, but because the interview was poorly conducted I never had a fair chance. The interview should have been rearranged and conducted when the manager was there. The interview was supposed to last a hour I was there for 10 mins, I felt more of an inconvenience than a potential candidate for the job. The whole experience was pretty disappointing as I had high expectations that the coop would be an excellent employer.
